For the independent musician, recording in the studio can be stressful. Staying in a positive frame of mind is important.

For example, instead of using the terms, “Take One,” “Take Two,” and so forth, use a code to hide the fact that you’re not nailing your part.

Recently, we used T A M B O U R I N E to mark our takes. Meaning:

Take 1 was Take T,

Take 2 was Take A,

Take 3 was Take M, and so on.

Tambourine is a 10 letter word that has no repeated letters, so each letter is unique for the code.
